MINI Beachcomber Concept
The MINI Beachcomber Concept was initially released at the Detroit Auto Show in 2010. It featured a doorless, roofless design that caught the imagination of onlookers and attendees. The Beachcomber was designed to be available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Obviously, the production vehicle will arrive with doors and a roof; however, the concept brought together the vision of many designers and engineers. The concept vehicle was also originally designed for that spontaneous and active adventure. It was initially made without doors and a roof to allow occupants to truly experience the surrounding world. This also allowed the driver and three other occupants to connect with the outside world, whether cruising through town, on an off-road journey or driving along the beach with a cool breeze running through their hair.
The exterior of the Beachcomber showcases a persona of ruggedness and intrigue. Oversized tires, flared fenders and an aggressive front end with integrated fog lamps truly reveal its intentions. The alloy wheels were designed to take the punishment of off-road travel; with a spare tire at the rear, you've always got a backup plan
Take a step inside, and you'll quickly realize that this MINI was designed for bigger things. From its four seats wrapped in red leather to the familiar centre stack that we find in current generation MINIs, the Beachcomber may be different, but at its core, it's still a MINI.
